Ellen Rebecca Geis is a multidisciplinary expressive artist, facilitator, writer, creativity researcher, and creative community builder.
With an upbringing rooted in theater, Ellen began faciliating Expressive Arts workshops in 2016, using intermodal arts as a means to self-reflect and inspire personal growth. She has been facilitating ever since, in Chicago, virtually, and in San Marcos, TX.
Ellen is the founder of Express Yourself Arts, through which she has run numerous programs including, "Express Yourself! Reclaim Your Creativity" and the Unsung Creatives Project.
Ellen’s work, whether as a facilitator or in her personal creative practice, is always rooted in process over product, with a value on unlocking emotion and creative instincts as a means to practice trusting intuition, while overcoming perfectionism and self-doubt.
Ellen is pursuing her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Expressive Arts Therapy at Lesley University, beginning Summer 2026.

About
Welcome! I'm Ellen, and don't let the pink sparkles fool you — I take the work of creative expression and expressive living very seriously. Everything I do is rooted in the philosophy that learning to follow your creative instincts is a way to practice following your intuition in all areas of life, for the betterment of yourself, your mental health, and the world around you.
For the last ten years, I've been sharing this philosophy as an Expressive Arts Facilitator — working with diverse populations, including individuals navigating complex mental health challenges and incarcerated women — across community workshops, collaborations, and one-on-one mentorship.
In 2025, I created the Unsung Creatives Project, a community arts + mental health initiative and research project, which resulted in a 45% increase in confidence and 72% increase in mental well-being among participants.
I'm the founder of Express Yourself Arts, a certified Life Coach, and I hold a B.A. in Psychology and Expressive Arts from Lesley University, where I'll begin my Master's Degree in Expressive Arts Therapy in Summer 2026.
My personal creative practice includes writing, movement-based abstract expressive art, and performance.
I know intimately the challenges we face in living a fully self-expressed life — and the real-life magic and impactful social change that unfolds when we begin to follow the creative breadcrumbs anyway.
